Assessment aims to identify area’s needs, priorities

OTTAWA — OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center recently announced plans to conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment.

A local advisory committee has been established to help work on the project and includes representation from various local organizations, including the United Way of Eastern La Salle County, Salvation Army, La Salle County Health Department, Youth Service Bureau and Health Center of Eastern LaSalle County.

Karen Brodbeck, director of marketing and community relations at OSF Saint Elizabeth, who is heading up the assessment efforts, says in addition to satisfying governmental regulations, the information collected will also be used for strategic planning purposes and the design, access, and delivery of health care in the La Salle County area.

“Our hope is that this assessment will enable us to better coordinate limited resources to address high priority challenges,” said Brodbeck.

Area residents are asked to participate by answering a series of questions related to health care by typing the following address into their web brower: http://bradley.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_7QcJnrPm2wl8kxD. The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete and all responses are confidential."

We want to hear your opinions,” said Brodbeck.“By participating in this survey, you will help us improve our understanding of health needs in the community.”

Nov. 30, 2012 is the last day community members can participate. Paper copies are available at the hospital. For more information, contact Karen Brodbeck at (815) 431-5441.
