Vicki Phillips

Mrs. Kenneth (Vicki) Phillips, 59, of rural Morris, Ill., passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning, Nov. 17, 2012, with her loving family by her side in Provena Saint Joseph Medical  Center in Joliet, Ill.

Born Oct. 28, 1953, in Frankfort, Germany, Vicki was the daughter of Lieselotte Styrsa. She moved to the U.S.A. in August of 1972 with her future husband, Kenneth R. Phillips. On Oct. 6, 1972, the two got married.

She was employed with Morris Hospital for over 26 years, currently working as an ER registration clerk on the night shift.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed following the many activities that her grandchildren were involved in. She took pride in being a grandma. She enjoyed spending time with friends, whether over a meal or with a simple cup of coffee.

She enjoyed lending a helpful hand to anyone. She was a woman who put the needs of others before her own.

Surviving is her loving husband of over 40 years, Ken, and their five children, Nicki (Chad) McKinney of Coal City, Ill.., Russel (April ) Phillips and Chandra (Jamie) Winsor, all of Verona, Ill., and Robert “Bob" Phillips and Randy Phillips, both of Morris, Ill.; 13 grandchildren, Keegan, Konner and Kade McKinney, Gage and Avery Phillips,Kylie and Garrett Winsor, Cheyenne, Jaren and Lyla Phillips, and Ethan, Evan and Emma Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.

She is also leaving at home, her little dog, Lily, who was also an important piece to her life. 

Mrs. Phillips was preceded by her mother and one grandson, Ean Phillips. on Aug. 24, 2005.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at U. C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris.  Cremation rites will follow at the Schultz Crematory in Streator, Ill.

Preferred form of remembrance would be memorial gifts in Vicki’s memory directed to the Betty J. Sterritt Memorial Nursing Scholarship at the Morris Hospital Foundation, 150 W. High St., Morris, IL.
