Martha Ann Dahmit

COAL CITY, Ill. — Mrs. Martha Ann “Mart” Dahmit, 73, of Coal City, Ill., and formerly of Lemont, Ill., passed away Monday evening, Nov. 19, 2012, at Westbury Care Center in Lisle, Ill.

Born Dec. 9, 1938, in Chicago, Martha was a daughter of the late Arthur and Olga Rehr-Kiesow. She was raised in Westmont, Ill., and graduated from Downers Grove High School with the Class of 1956. On Sept. 6, 1958, Mart married Charles K.”Chuck” Dahmit in Bethel Lutheran Church in Westmont. He survives.

Mart worked as an accountant for Western Electric prior to raising her family. She later gained employment with Rockwell International in Downers Grove, where she worked until her retirement in 1995.

Mart enjoyed bowling, traveling and gardening, and she had a great love for animals. Mart will be remembered for her Christmas Eve gatherings, which she hosted for 54 years. She was a tremendous cook, and cherished the time spent cooking for, and being with, her family.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Charles “Chuck” Dahmit; two daughters, Debbie (Tom) Zeiger of Plainfield, Ill., and Sandy (Mark) Chipman of Morris, Ill.; five grandchildren, Tom (Nikole) Zeiger of Oswego, Ill., Sarah (Brian) Wildenhain of Morris, Nikki (Mike) Jacksa and Kevin Zeiger (fiancée Amanda Crisman), both of Plainfield, Ill., and Mark Chipman of Morris; six great-grandchildren, Tyler Zeiger, Katilynn Wildenhain, Dylan Zeiger, Mason Jacksa, Brielle Zeiger and Brianna Zeiger; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Kiesow of Clarendon Hills, Ill., and Cheryl (Greg) Anderson of Pocatello, Idaho; one niece, Michelle Kiesow; and three nephews, Bill Kiesow, Tim (Michelle) Anderson and Steve Anderson.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bill Kiesow; and her aunt, DorothyJohnson.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov 24, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tom Zeiger, Kevin Zeiger,Mike Jacksa, Brian Wildenhain, Mark Chipman and Bill Kiesow.
