ROUNDUP: Irish win Turkey Tournament title

SENECA — Twenty-five points from All-Tournament selection Peyton Schrag led Seneca in a 76-64 victory over defending champion Illiana Christian in the championship game at the Seneca Boys Basketball Thanksgiving Turkey Tournament Saturday night.

Schrag, who was 13-for-14 from the free-throw line, was joined by teammates Jimmy David, with 21, and Conlan Callahan, with 18, in scoring in double figures in the game.

Callahan was also selected All-Tournament, while Brian Bergeson of Seneca (4-0) tied for the 10th and final spot on the team.

Hinckley-Big Rock beat Somonauk 64-41 in Saturday's third-place game. St. Anne defeated Hall 77-38 for fifth place, and in the seventh-place game, Reed-Custer (0-4) lost 85-68 to Marquette despite getting 11 points from Connor Anderson and Dalton Kinzler.

On Friday, the Fighting Irish defeated HBR 58-50 behind 14 points each from Callahan and Schrag. In other Friday games, St. Anne won 67-43 over Marquette, Somonauk downed Reed-Custer 68-56 despite the Comets getting 10 points from Tyler Schoonover and Illiana Christian defeated Hall 91-59.

On Wednesday, Callahan's 20 points led the Irish to a 50-43 win over St. Anne. HBR downed Marquette 66-42 in the other game that night.


WJOL Classic

JOLIET — Minooka defeated Joliet Central 50-40 for third place Saturday night at the Sullivan Center at the University of St. Francis.

On Friday, the Indians beat Lockport 52-41.


Route 17 Thanksgiving Classic

DWIGHT — Host Dwight lost its final game 64-29 Saturday to Paw Paw and defeated Christ the King Jesuit Prep 60-57 on Friday. Dwight's Blake Huseman was All-Tournament.


SOPHOMORES
Coal City Turkey Tournament

COAL CITY — St. Bede went 3-0 for the championship, ending with a 72-43 defeat of Gardner-South Wilmington Saturday. That night, Morris was a 39-32 winner over Coal City.

On Friday, St. Bede beat Coal City 67-29 and GSW won 53-51 over Morris. On Tuesday, GSW was a 38-27 winner over Coal City.


Seneca Turkey Tournament

SENECA — Illiana Christian defeated Reed-Custer 69-56 in Saturday's championship. Seneca went 1-2 for the tournament for fourth place, losing 36-31 to Marquette Saturday and 85-29 to Reed-Custer in the championship semifinals but beating HBR 36-21 in the quarters.
