COAL CITY — Donjeta Shabani led a balanced Coal City (5-1, 1-0) scoring attack Monday with 13 points as Interstate Eight Conference play opened.

"We got off to a good start tonight and had positive contributions from everyone," Coal City coach Brad Schmitt said. "Defensively, we limited their looks in the first half and really pressured the ball."


War-Hawk Tournament

AURORA — Minooka (1-4) lost its final tournament game 64-33 to Naperville North Saturday at Waubonsie Valley. Larissa McLemen had 10 points, Kayla Finch 7 and Erin Heide 6 for the Indians.

Sydney Arlis scored 11 points and McLemen added 9, but Minooka lost 42-40 to West Aurora Friday at West Aurora.


SOPHOMORES
War-Hawk Tournament

AURORA — Abbie Hoeg scored 14 points and Taylor Prieboy 10 as the Indians (5-0) clinched the championship with a 45-26 win over Naperville North Friday at Waubonsie Valley.

Hoeg's 12 points led Minooka in a 38-28 win over West Aurora Friday.
