Carol Jean VanDuzer

STREATOR, Ill. — Mrs. Carol Jean VanDuzer, 80, of Streator, Ill., passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born July 12, 1932, in Grand Ridge, Ill., Carol was the daughter of Donald and Rosalie (Schuett) Dulian. She married Myles VanDuzer Sr. on Sept. 20, 1952.

Carol and her husband owned and operated VanDuzer Jewelers in Streator and Ottawa for many years. She was a member of Delta Theta Tau for more than 50 years, which is a national philanthropic sorority.

She enjoyed bingo, fishing, playing cards, watching the Bears and, most of all, spending time with her family.

She attended local grade schools and graduated from Ottawa High School and also attended the University of Illinois.

Survivors include her husband, Myles Sr.; children, Myles (Joyce) VanDuzer Jr. of Streator, Sandra (Chas) LaVersa of Plaistow, N.H., Mark (Patty) VanDuzer of Streator and David (Linn) VanDuzer of Ottawa, Ill.; grandchildren, Kyle (Emily) VanDuzer, Michael (Niki) VanDuzer, John VanDuzer, Drake (Aleks Ratajczak) VanDuzer, Brandon VanDuzer, Collin VanDuzer, Anthony (Elizabeth) LaVersa, Keri (Scott) Sullivan and Katie (Randy) Tarr; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ed Dulian of Boynton Beach, Fla.; sisters, Marilyn DeBernardi of Ottawa, Ill., and Sharon Trager of Marseilles, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at the Elias Funeral Home, Streator. Rev. Jane Esterline of Park Presbyterian Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Elias Funeral Home.

Private family burial will take place at a later date at Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
