PERU, Ill. — Children and story books go together like cookies and milk.  So bring the children to a holiday reading activity at Peru Mall from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 next to Weight Watchers in the Sears wing.

Children and their families are invited to Snuggle Up with a Good Book, read by six educators from around the Illinois Valley. They’ll read stories about various holiday celebrations and winter activities geared to youngsters from three to 10 years old.

Youngsters who attend the event will select free books to take home as well as a stuffed animal, courtesy of the Starved Rock Reading Council.

“We’re pleased to sponsor events that promote the love of reading at an early age while encouraging families to read together,” said Rachel Woodyer, librarian at Grand Ridge Community Consolidated School District 95 and membership chair of the Reading Council. “This is the ninth year that the Council has partnered with Peru Mall to sponsor family reading events.”

Readers include Kim McKenna of Rochelle, Donna Stone of Streator, Karl Fivek of Peru, Stephanie Benson of Ottawa, Laura Cuchra of Ancona and Woodyer of Grand Ridge.
