ROUNDUP: Minooka wins Strikefest Invitational

JOLIET — Minooka totaled 5,914 to win the 2012 Strikefest Girls Bowling Invitational, hosted Saturday by Plainfield North at Town and Country Lanes.

Emily Koulis was the highest-scoring Indian, finishing in 14th place with a 1,216 series that included a 235 sixth game. Kayly Wandbiel (1,203 series), Nicole Segatto (1,181) and Alison Warwick (1,176) finished 17th, 18th and 19th, respectively, for Minooka. Allyson Lakota was 33rd with an 1,136.

Morris finished 24th of the 44 teams at the tournament with a team score of 5,026.


BOYS BOWLING
Lincoln-Way East Invitational

MOKENA — Zach Segatto bowled a 300 fifth game Saturday at the Thunder Bowl in Mokena. Segatto was second individually with a 1,420 series, and the Indians were second as a team with 6,137 pins. They also counted a 1,243 series from John Kauffman, a 1,193 from Dylan Pickett, a 1,183 from Justin Shepard and a 1,098 from Nick Beeler.

SANDWICH —Chelsie McCormick had 12 points and Mallory Misener added 9 Monday for the Lady Irish (6-2, 3-2) in Interstate Eight Conference play.

"It was a nice win for us on the road," Seneca coach Barb Beck said. "Chelsie McCormick stepped up and did some good things for us on the offensive end."

Emma Bedeker and Lexi Wilkinson scored 11 points each for Seneca (6-2, 3-2) in a 46-40 sophomore loss.

Serena 27

NEWARK — Eleven points each from Taylor Krug, Kayla Milakis and Lauren Tollefson sparked the Lady Norse (7-1, 3-0) to victory Monday in the LIttle Ten Conference.


DeKalb 41,
Morris 17

Julie Jurasits scored 8 points and Katie Friend 5 Friday night in Northern Illinois Big 12 East play for the Redskins, who were down 25-14 at halftime.

"Holding a state-ranked team to 41 points ... is just tremendous," Morris coach Luke Windy said. "I'm proud of our effort. They have 3 girls who are 6-foot and taller, and our tallest is 5-10, and to play the defense we did tonight was all about pride and effort.

"Offensively we really struggled. We had a lot of unforced turnovers tonight. We got to keep plugging along and get better with our fundamentals."
