PLANO — Coal City placed sixth with 118 points and Seneca was 10th with 74.5 at Plano's 18-team tournament this weekend.

Cody Minnick (113), Corey Jurzak (120) of Coal City won individual championships. Casey Brown (126) finished second for the Coalers. Jake Czaja (145) placed fourth, and Michael Czaja (152) and Terry Blondin were sixth, for Coal City.

"We wrestled well for the most part," Coal City coach Mark Masters said. "I felt like we left a few wins out on the mat. We just have to find a way to finish those matches."

Seneca got a first-place finish from Sage Friese (132). Brandon Webb (220) placed second and Tommy Lovett (160) was third for the Fighting Irish.

PLAINFIELD — Andrew Potts (113), Mike McNulty (138), Nathan Gunn (182), Josh Bouie (195) and David Newman (285) of Minooka pinned their opponents Thursday in the Southwest Prairie Conference dual. Mike Crnkovic (126), and Eric Velazquez (220) won decisions.

WEST CHICAGO — Anthony Ascolani, Jacob MacLean, Jordan Ramirez and Jacob Beaudin teamed up for fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:37.84) Saturday to lead Morris. As a team, the Redskins were ninth of 12 teams with 53 points.

The Redskins got seventh-place finishes from Kevin Sheridan, Joseph Perez and Angel Algarin in diving and from Jackson Riley, Alex Magers, Ascolani and Beaudin in the 200-yard butterfly (1:55.62). Riley, Beaudin, Ascolani and MacLean were eighth in the 200-yard medley (1:57.27), as were Riley, Ascolani, MacLean and Ramirez in the 400-yard freestyle (3:48.33).

"Overall, a few of our relays did awesome," Morris coach Andrew Porth said. "I'm more optimistic now, especially about our 200 free relay and our 200 medley relay, than I was before the meet."
