(MCT) — The Chicago Cubs claimed right-handed reliever Sandy Rosario off waivers from the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday and added him to their 40-man roster.

Rosario, 27, has spent all of his career in the Marlins' system, posting a 3.15 earned-run average in 181 appearances, including 35 starts. He had 10 major-league appearances with the Marlins over the last three seasons, compiling a 15.26 ERA. Rosario spent two months on the disabled list last season with a strained right quad.

It's been a long and winding road for Rosario this winter. He was claimed off waivers by Boston in October, then traded to Oakland on Nov. 28, then waived by the A's and reacquired by the Red Sox on Dec. 10. In other words, he's been acquired twice by Boston this winter, only to be traded and waived by the Red Sox.
