In action this week, both the Morris swimming and Redskins girls bowling teams came away with victories.

BOYS SWIMMING

Morris 123,

Fenton 56

The Redskins got nine first places on the day in the win over Fenton.

"It was a good win," Morris coach Andrew Porth said. "The team is coming together well. I'm glad to have Jim Meredith (illness) back. He is a very intense swimmer and a good teammate."

The 200 meter medley relay team of Riley Jackson, Jake Beaudin, Anthony Ascolani and Jordan Ramirez were first in a time of 2:09.08 and the 200 freestyle relay team of Ascolani, Ramirez, Jacob MacLean and Beaudin were first in 1:50.24.

Individual firsts came from: MacLean in the 200 free (2:20.66), Beaudin in the 50 free (:26.80), Ascolani in the 100 butterfly (1:12.26), Beaudin in the 100 free (1:01.97), MacLean in the 400 free (4:58.56), Jackson in the 100 backstroke (1:12.50).

Morris won the JV meet 75-51.

"I was proud of the JV kids," Porth said. "I think they are doing great overall."

GIRLS BOWLING

Morris 3,086

Kaneland 2,769

Getting a perfect game from sophomore Taylor Warwick and a 654 series, the Morris bowling team topped Kaneland on Tuesday in a Northern Illinois Big 12 match.

"When I looked up and saw that she had the first six strikes, the thought entered my mind that she could possibly throw a 300 game," Morris coach Harry Banks said. "When she threw a strike in the last frame to shoot 300, I knew she had accomplished something many want."

Amber Benson came in with a 532 for the Redskins.

At the JV level, Morris won behind a 488 from Alexis Meadors and a 475 from Hayleigh Knott.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Seneca 39,

Princeton 32

Despite the close score in the non-conference game, coach Russell Witte said that his team played well.

"We played much better than the score indicated. We missed open shot after open shot," Witte said. "It was a great win in a tough place."

Conlan Callahan led Seneca with 15 points. Peyton Schrag added 11.

In the sophomore contest, Princeton won 51-32 despite nine points from Ben Rhoder and Lars Pihl's seven points.
