Wesley Knutson

MINOOKA, Ill. — Mr. Wesley D. Knutson, 87, of Atkinson, Ill., and formerly of Minooka, Ill., passed away Friday morning, Dec. 14, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Home in Geneseo, Ill.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St., Morris, Ill., with Pastor Steven Heilmann officiating. Interment will follow at Saratoga Cemetery.

Visitation will also be held on Saturday, from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the Morris Color Guard.

Mr. Knutson was on born Aug. 17, 1925, in Rutland Township, La Salle County, the son of Melvin and Anna (Nelson) Knutson. He graduated from Newark High School with the Class of 1943 and later from University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1961. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Wesley married Carol Hagen on March 26, 1949, at the Grace Lutheran Church. He owned and operated his own veterinary practice in Alpha, Ill., for several years and later in Minooka, Ill.

Survivors include his loving wife, Carol; four children, Dale (Jan) Knutson of Rio, Ill., Cheryl (Micheal) Barr of Galena, Ill., Daryl Knutson of Davenport, Iowa, and Alan (Julie) Knutson of Waterloo, Iowa; seven grandchildren; three great-grandsons; three sisters; one brother, Robert (Mariam) Knutson of Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; six brothers; and our sisters.

He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Morris, American Legion of Alpha, and honorary member of AVMA for 52 years. He was an avid Illini fan.

Memorials may be directed to the Saratoga Cemetery or to the family for distribution to a charity of their choice at a later date.
