Kenneth Jerome Coveny

Mr. Kenneth Jerome Coveny, 91, of Aurora, Ill., and formerly of Kinsman, Ill., and Morris, Ill., passed away Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 18, 2012, at home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington St. (one block east of Illinois 47) in Morris. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 219 Emmett St., Kinsman, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with the Rev. John J. Hornicak officiating. Burial will be in Saint Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Ransom.

Born March 2, 1921, in Streator, Ill., Kenneth was a son of the late Lorenzo and Julia Curtin-Coveny. He was raised and educated in Kinsman and Mazon, Ill., and was a graduate of Mazon High School.

Early in his career, Kenneth farmed, however later moved into various real estate ventures. Most notably he was known for working on Commonwealth Edison's land acquisitions for power plants. Kenneth will be remembered as a avid car racing fan.

Survivors include four children, Jeffrey Coveny of Lake Village, Ark., Deborah Ohr of Woodridge, Ill., Barbara Coveny-Silver (Samuel) of Atlanta, Ga., and Gary Coveny of Aurora; three grandchildren, Kenneth Ohr (Ryan), Christina Bentel (Anthony) and David Ohr; six great-grandchildren: Arianna Bentel, Madison Bentel, Morgan Bentel, Nathan Ohr, Kenneth J. Ohr and Benjamin Ohr; one brother, Raymond Coveny; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Fox Coveny; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as special friends Victoria Coveny and Ruth Grams.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Julia Coveny; and two sisters, Monica Coveny and Geraldine Coveny.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Coveny, Gary Coveny, Kenneth Ohr, David Ohr, Nathan Ohr and Anthony Bentel.
