Wold provides update on local school security in wake of Newtown shooting

Pena said staff initially projected $400,000 in revenue from the new tax, and the village so far has seen $190,358. Projections for the year are around $380,000. Pena recommended the village keep the tax at 5 percent and continue to use it for operational needs.

The board this week also:

• Approved the proposal from Layne Christensen Company in the amount of $12,089 to inspect and re-build Well #6 bowl assembly.

• Approved the proposal from the same firm in the amount of $19,255 to inspect and repair Well #6 column pipe.

• Approved renewing the village’s general liability and workmen’s compensation insurance with Mesirow Insurance Services.
