Immaculate Conception School seventh- and eighth-grade students recently participated in the Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest sponsored by the VFW John Martin Steele Post 6049. Three prize winning essays were selected by the judges.

These were done by eighth-grader Megan Davy and seventh-graders Jack Galloway and Jacinda Smith.

The winning writers were presented with a monetary award as well as medal, pen, and datebook. The presentation of the awards was made by VFW Commander Jerry Belt.

The three students will be guests at a dinner in January. Their essays now advance to the district competition for possible additional awards.
