Woman pleads guilty to obstructing peace officer

A Carbon Hill woman pleaded guilty Tuesday, Dec. 18, to a charge of obstructing a peace officer.

Taylor M. Kessel, 22, was sentenced to 12 months of conditional discharge, two days in jail with credit for two days served and fined $150 for her role in the Oct. 28, 2012, incident.

According to court records, Kessel was charged for obstructing the performance of four officers — two with the Grundy County Sheriff’s Dept. and two with the Coal City Police Dept. — while they were attempting to arrest her.

She reportedly pushed and pulled away, and then she ran into a field. She then continued to resist arrest by attempting to pull away from the officers.
