Mrs. Virginia G. "Ginny" Howard, 65, of Morris, and formerly Skandia, Mich., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Morris.

Born Oct. 29, 1947, in Ishpeming City, Mich., Virginia was a daughter of the late Alfred Charles and Phyllis Carolyn (Johnson) Dowe. She was raised and educated in Marquette, Mich., and graduated from Marquette Senior High School.

Ginny was a former member of the Jaycees in Marquette and held employment locally with the Grundy County Home from 1998 to 2004. She will be remembered as an avid reader who loved working crossword puzzles.

Survivors include children, Peter Howard (Patti Quiron) of South Glen Falls, N.Y., Phyllis Johnson of Skandia, Mich., Lewis Howard of Sheboygan, Wis., Sandra "Sandy" Borchert (Allen) of Morris and Theodore Howard (Lori) of Ishpeming City, Mich.; grandchildren, Kassandra Howard, Zachary Howard (Zoe Killian), Cathleen Shalast, Nicole Howard (Brian Rosten), Robert Howard, Scott Borchert (Alena), Pvt. Dillan Johnson, Carley Johnson, Ryan Howard and Sara Beth Lancour (Harold); great-grandchildren, Draven Howard, Benjamin Matsdorf, Morgan Rosten, Dorian Howard, Luke Lancour, Elaine Lancour, Cleora Lancour, Valerie Lancour and Jonathon Lancour, with another great-grandson Samuel Borchert expected in May 2013; brothers and sisters, Norma Bugno (Michael) of Greenville, S.C., Richard Dowe (Mabel) of Sheboygan, Wis., Shirley Barnes of Tempe, Ariz., Susan Shultis (Roger) of Greenville, S.C., and Mike Smith of Marquette, Mich., and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as special friends, Mary and Richard Peterson and Rich Greene, both of Minnesota, and Pam and Jeff Couwenhoven of Morris.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Charles Dowe and Phyllis Carolyn Dowe, and step-mother, Alice Smith.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington St. (one block east of Illinois 47) in Morris.

Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home.

Ginny will be buried at Northland Chapel Gardens Cemetery in Negaunee, Mich., and the family will have a memorial graveside service at a later date.
