ROUNDUP: Redskins win twice at Alleman

ROCK ISLAND — Morris went 2-1 Thursday at a varsity wrestling quadrangular hosted by Alleman, defeating Morton 57-9 and Alleman 45-36 but losing 41-33 to Sterling.

Six Redskins — Kenny Baldridge (120), A.J. Vota (126), Justin Barkley (138/145), Cody Decker (145/152), Trevor Allbert (160) and Nik Countryman (195) — went 3-0 on the day. Vota's wins were all by pinfall. Decker recorded 2 pins, and Baldridge, Barkley, Allbert and Countryman added 1 each.

Other Morris double winners were Ian Bernard (106) and Jarred Bernard (112). Emmet Chouinard (138), Dalton Ness (220) and Andrew Faught (285) added victories.

MARSEILLES — Blake Huseman led Dwight with 22 points Thursday at the Marseilles Holiday Tournament. Caleb Boma contributed 10.

Gardner-South Wilmington was led by Cody Harvey and Kyle Robison with 10 points each and Jeremy Kunz and Tristan Noonan with 7.

PLANO — Nick Peters scored 21 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Coalers (5-6) Thursday in consolation play at the Plano Christmas Classic. Other scorers were Brennen Shetina with 14 points, Jon West with 9, Lane Cowherd with 7, Chris Jenke with 4 and Jake Aichele with 3.

"This was a big win for us," Coal City coach Brad Boresi said. "Nick Peters did a great job on the defensive end holding their post player to 7 points."

LISLE — Donjeta Shabani was 5-for-9 from the field in scoring a Coal City (11-3) high 12 points Thursday at the Lisle Holiday Cage Classic. She added 9 rebounds. Emily Halliday had 11 points and 9 rebounds.

PERU — Danielle Hauch led the Lady Irish (8-8) with 13 points Thursday at the St. Bede Lady Bruins Christmas Classic. They got 10 points from Chelsie McCormick and 7 from Erin Hovious.

"We just couldn't find an answer tonight," Seneca coach Barb Beck said. "Seemed like every time we got close, they found a way to score. Erin Hovious came off the bench and gave us a great spark."
