Park District’s Skateland to celebrate New Year’s

CHANNAHON — Channahon Park District’s Skateland Recreation Center is celebrating New Year’s Eve on Monday, Dec. 31 with the After Noon Year Celebration for families and the Black-and-White New Year’s All Nighter for teens.

The After Noon Year Celebration is family event to ring in 2013 without staying up quite so late. The party will have skating, games, fun competitions, prizes and a balloon drop.

The event will be held from noon to 2 p.m., with the balloon drop to take place at 1 p.m. If participants pre-register, the cost is $3 for residents and $4 for non-residents. Cost is $5 at the door.

Skateland will bust out the black lights for the Black-and-White New Year’s All Nighter, which is for ages 10 years and up.

Participants can stay up all night skating, playing games, watching movies and enjoying a massive balloon drop. The event includes a midnight snack and breakfast. The all-night skate is completely supervised.

Drop-off is between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Dec. 31, and pick-up is between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. Jan. 1.

If participants pre-register, cost is $24 for residents and $28 for non-residents. Cost is $30 at the door. Fee includes admission, basic skate rental, midnight snack and breakfast. There will also be a concession stand.
