I know that the idea of extending driving privileges to those who are not here legally rankles some.

But as a society we have an obligation to pursue sensible solutions to difficult problems.

No one believes that all of these people will be deported – but the current situation is not good for our economy, for our homeland security, or for the immigrants and their families.

In Illinois SB957 helps us to take one sensible step forward, and the reward is that all our highways will be safer.

Who is going to pay for this grandiose plan to teach these illegals to read and write English to ensure they can read and obey traffic signs? What about the fees associated with earning a driver's license, including Driver's Education? And, how do we know WHO they really are when they have nothing to prove they are who they say they are. Let's start by changing all traffic signs to Spanish. Edgar you have about as much credibility as our last two governors.
