Glenn Hollenbeck

VERONA, Ill. — Mr. Glenn Hollenbeck, 89, of rural Verona, Ill., passed away peacefully with his loving family at his bedside Wednesday morning, Jan. 2, 2013, in Walnut Grove Village.

Born on June 5, 1923, at home in Verona, he was the son of Lloyd and Florence Hughes Hollenbeck. He received his elementary education in Maxwell School, which was a one-room school in Highland Township. He graduated from Mazon High School with the Class of 1941.

During World War II, he was employed with the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and then was employed at Ft. Sheridan as a payroll clerk in the accounting department for over 15 years. Glenn then moved on to Hines Veterans Administration Hospital in Hines, Ill., where he proudly served until taking early retirement in 1980.
