Grundy retired teachers finish 2012 with 17,779 volunteer hours

The Grundy County Retired Teachers Organization finished with 17,779 volunteer hours for 2012, surpassing last year’s total. The total reflect volunteer hours by retired teachers from Oct. 2011 to Sept. 2012.

The retired teachers participate in many facets of community life. Some of these include working at Morris Hospital gift shop, outpatient surgery desk, and transportation; church activities; local schools — mentoring and tutoring; Friends of the Library; Mobile Meals; Goose Lake Prairie Partners; highway cleanup — A GCRTA project) PADS and St. Vincent’s Table; We Care; Civic organizations; Charities; and sports and youth programs.
