ERCO hopes to continue collection success

E-waste, white goods event to be held Feb. 2 in Morris

Grundy County Environmental and Resource Conservation Office (ERCO) will host an e-waste and white good collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at the Environtech Landfill, 1800 North Ashley Road, Morris.

Volunteers will be on hand to assist all of the residents with transferring all electronics from the resident’s vehicles. A Dumpster will be on site for the unloading of white goods.

In 2012, Grundy County was able to collect 185,995 pounds — or almost 93 tons — of electronics This is a great accomplishment in e-waste diversion.

The first 100 residents at the Feb. 2 event will receive a free plastic fitness water bottle and energy wheel for attending.

The following electronic and white goods will be accepted at this event:


Televisions, computers and accessories, monitors, printers, printer cartridges, laptops and laptop accessories, hard drives, power cables, networking equipment, fax machines, copiers, cell phones and phones, CD players, DVD/VHS video players, electronic games, UPS’s, MP3s and PSPs. 

White Goods:

Refrigerators/freezers, ranges, ovens, microwaves, cooktops, washer and dryers, dishwashers, air conditioners, trash compactors, and small hand held appliances.
