Five Cubs, Sox players file for arbitration
(MCT) — Five Chicago players — Cubs pitchers Matt Garza, James Russell and Jeff Samardzija, and White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham and outfielder Alejandro De Aza — filed Tuesday for salary arbitration.
The five players and their respective clubs will exchange salary figures on Friday. If an agreement can't be reached, there will be a hearing scheduled between Feb. 1-21, but cases usuallly are settled before a hearing.
