CHURCH BULLETINS: IC’s Christmas Giving Tree a success

The Christmas Giving Tree at Immaculate Conception Parish was a tremendous success again this year.

The 20 adopted families were extremely grateful for the Aldi food certificates to help with their holiday meals and the abundance of gift wrap that was donated. Fifty-five children received toys, clothing, school supplies, books, and gift cards from the generous church family.

Immaculate Conception parishioners were also able to brighten the Christmas season of 33 nursing home residents.

Jewish Congregation lists activities

JOLIET — Shabbat Services for the Joliet Jewish Congregation will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday evenings, while Saturday services are at 9 a.m.

Children’s Religious/Hebrew School classes meet every Sunday at the synagogue at 10 a.m. Please call the office for details on joining a class.

In addition to its weekly worship services, the congregation hosts a Lunch and Learn every Thursday, unless otherwise stated.

This wonderful way to study the Hebrew Bible takes place from noon to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per week. and those attending should  RSVP .

The congregation’s Hadassah book club meets monthly at a congregant’s home to discuss Jewish works and authors.

Joliet Jewish Congregation’s monthly potlucks will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, and Friday, Feb. 15, with services following at 7 p.m. Please call the office with your RSVP and what dish you plan to bring.

On the evening of Feb. 16, the congregation will host a game night for adults. More details will follow as the date nears, so call the office of additional details or check the website.

Thrift shop reopens, offers specials

CHANNAHON — The Channahon United Methodist Church Thrift Shop reopened Thursday, Jan. 10, and is able to receive drop-off donations.

The schedule will continue as before, with store hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28.
