JOLIET – The Joliet Slammers announced Wednesday that Ben Hewett would be returning to the Slammers for the 2013 season.

“We are very happy to have Ben back in a Slammers uniform,” manager Mike Breyman said. “He is a very important piece to this team, and made a positive impact in this community. Being very sound as a defensive catcher is one of the main reasons why I am excited for Hewett to come back. Also, he is a switch hitter and quietly put together a decent offensive season last year. Ben has proven that you can win a championship with him behind the plate, and that’s a pretty good quality if you ask me.”
