Minooka boys bowling team leading at State Meet

The Minooka boys bowling team leads the State Meet down in O’Fallon by 50 pins after the first day. The Indians have a team score of 2,488. Sophomore Dylan Pickett led the locals on the first day with a two-round total of 1,430. Zach Segatto was next at 1,323, followed by John Kauffman at 1,310 and Justin Shepard at 1,287. Nick Beeler (566) and Chris Dombrowski (572) split the two rounds.

BOYS BASKETBALL Coal City 74, Reed-Custer 48 Coal City finished 3-1 at the I-8 Tournament to finish fifth overall after beating the hosting Comets. Jon West led the Coalers with 34 points. Lane Cowherd had 18 points.

Sandwich 66, Dwight 61 The Trojans lost despite 28 points by Blake Huseman.

GIRLS BASKETBALL Dwight 55, Herscher 42 Alyson Wiemken had 22 points and eight rebounds in the win for the Trojans.

FRESHMEN Sycamore 30, Morris 25 The Redskins were led by 11 points from Rylee Harr and eight points by Devin Pacheco.

Morris 50, Plano 19 Pacheco had 13 points in the win and Alissa Bojovic added 12.

GRADE SCHOOL GIRLS VOLLEYBALL Saratoga def. Elwood, 25-12, 25-22 Saratoga was led by nine points from Katy Smith while Sabrina Baftiri had seven points and Jen Smerling six. In the seventh grade match, Saratoga won 25-18, 25-12 behind 13 points by Ashley Hood.

Channahon def. Coal City, 26-24, 25-18 Coal City lost despite 11 points and six aces from Kenzie Bugg.

GIRLS BASKETBALL Lisbon 31, Nettle Creek 26 Jasmine Mitchell had 24 points in the win for Lisbon.
