Healthy eating in Sycamore schools

  Comments (...)
Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

My family recently moved to DeKalb County and my daughter is in Sycamore CUSD 427. I have been very impressed so far with my school’s focus on healthy eating.

Not only do they dedicate class time to talking about healthy eating, but they also appear to provide a number of healthy choices on their daily hot lunch menu including carrots and ranch dip, chef salad, and fruit.

Teaching kids about healthy choices is one thing, but getting them to choose it can still be a challenge if the junk is available.

I appreciate this district’s attempt to limit the junk and encourage the healthier choices both in the classroom and the lunchroom.

The dietitian notices and approves.
