Nothing to cheer but cheer itself

It's been a nice bounce-back season for the Morris competitive cheerleading team. After missing out on making the state cut last winter for the first time in nine seasons, the Redskins appear to be back in form.

Last weekend at the Mahomet Seymour Sectional, the locals won a sectional title for the second time ever, finishing with a team score of 87.97 in the Medium Division. That score was just ahead of La Salle-Peru's 86.53.

"I honestly didn't think we were going to win it," Morris senior captain Samantha Ehret admitted. "We were pretty sure we were going to qualify (for state) because we've had a strong routine all year, but we were pretty shocked all together that we won it."
