ESSEX, Ill. — Mrs. Verneda A. (Yedlicka) Hagberg, 74, of Essex, Ill., passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home in Joliet, Ill.
Born Nov. 22, 1938, in Joliet to the late Louis and Frances (Cerny) Yedlicka from Coal City, Ill., she attended Assumption Catholic Church Grade School and graduated from Coal City High School in 1956.
Mrs. Hagberg retired from Caterpillar Inc., in Joliet, as a Department Head Secretary in 1994 with thirty-seven years of service.
A member of the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Essex, Verneda enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling on many European trips and cruises, and spending winters in Anna Maria, Fla.
Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Doris Hagberg of Essex and Carol Stone of Bonfield, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her mother, in 1952; her father, in 1969; a brother, Donald Yedlicka in 1968; and her husband, Victor Hagberg, in 2006, after 47 years of marriage.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Essex at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, with the Rev. Show Reddy Allam officiating. Interment will follow in East Cemetery, Essex.
The visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes Ltd. & Crematory, Braidwood Chapel, 401 E. Main St., Braidwood, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church, Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, or American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
