Quality Millwork blaze causes about $250,000 damage

About 15 minutes before workers would have showed up for work at Quality Millwork, the Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District was fighting a heavy fire in the building.

The call came in at about 6:44 a.m. Saturday morning, Fire Chief Tracey Steffes said. At 7 a.m., employees would have started work at the building, located at 7075 Lisbon Road.  A passerby called it in when they saw fire in the metal building.

The company sells windows, doors, trim and other products for houses, Steffes said. Once on scene, the fire department had to cut a lock to enter the company's parking lot and then force entry into the building, which had heavy smoke and heat conditions.
