RICHTON PARK — With 5,831 pins, Minooka finished second at the 19-team Rich East Girls Bowling Sectional Saturday at the Lakewood Bowl and qualified for the state final tournament.

Minooka was led by Emily Koulis with a 1,234 series. Also bowling for the Indians were Danielle Grygiel with an 1,197, Allyson Lakota with a 1,156, Alison Warwick with a 1,128, Kayly Windbiel with a 785 and Nicole Segatto with a 331.

Morris finished seventh with a 5,442 and did not qualify any individuals for state. Savannah Strange was eighth individually with a 1,231, which made her a potential at-large individual. Morris also had Taylor Warwick place 14th with a 1,203.

"Both girls bowled well, but with only 2 individuals qualifying for the state tournament, both fell a little short," Morris coach Harry Banks said. "With the season coming to an end, the girls have improved all year. I am continuing to look toward the future because, if the girls keep improving, I think it is bright."

The state final tournament is Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8-9, at The Cherry Bowl in Rockford.
