Cloonen forming citizens committees
Panels to meet for first time in late March
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Katherine “Kate” Cloonen (D-Kankakee) is encouraging local residents to become members of her newly created citizens advisory committees.
Rep. Cloon-en will host several meetings throughout the year on Agriculture, Economic Development, Education, Public Safety, Senior Issues and Veterans.
“It is my responsibility as a legislator to make certain that the interests and concerns of my constituents and leaders in our region are heard in Springfield,” said Cloonen, who represents the southeastern portion of Grundy County in the General Assembly.
“These meetings will offer additional insight into major issues in Illinois and provide me with the opportunity to hear from a diverse group of people on important issues. Advisory committees will also be a great resource to find new ways to improve the quality of life in our communities.”
Cloonen is looking for local professionals, as well as constituents with direct knowledge or interest within the committees’ particular fields. Advisory committees will meet two to four times a year and are opportunities for constituents to be involved with the legislative process.
The first round of citizens advisory committees meetings is tentatively scheduled for the week of March 25. All meetings will be free of charge and open to the public.
Participants do not need to be an expert in the field of any advisory committee they wish to attend and anyone is more than welcome to serve on more than one committee if they wish.
Anyone wishing to be a part of Cloonen’s citizen advisory committees is encouraged to contact her constituent service office by phone at (815) 939-1983 or by email at email@example.com.
“The concerns and opinions of the residents of this district are very important to me and I believe citizens should have a part in the legislative process,” Cloonen said. “I encourage anyone who is interested in participating in one or more of these advisory committees to reach out to my office. Your input is valuable to me and I look forward to a strong turnout.”
The 79th District includes all or portions of Aroma Park, Beecher, Bonfield, Bourbonnais, Braceville, Bradley, Buckingham, Cabery, Chebanse, Coal City, Diamond, Essex, Gardner, Herscher, Hopkins Park, Irwin, Kankakee, Limestone, Momence, Peotone, Reddick, South Wilmington, St. Anne, Sun River Terrace and Union Hill.
