Tanks topple onto Illinois 47

HazMat officials must determine amount of contents before righting them

Wednesday afternoon, the Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District reported to a scene on Illinois 47, just south of the Morris Municipal Airport, where two anhydrous ammonia tanks on one trailer had rolled over.

Each tank had a 1,000-gallon capacity, but both were reported as empty. But if the tanks are less than 5 percent full, that is considered empty, noted Chief Tracey Steffes.
