Report: Dunn, Danks contracts among MLB's worst

(MCT) — GLENDALE, Ariz. -- If Adam Dunn and John Danks needed more motivation entering the 2013 season, it was provided in a report listing the worst contracts in major league baseball.

Dunn ranked 12th and Danks 11th among the players whose contracts "would attract little to no interest if they were made available for trade tomorrow," according to Jonah Keri of Grantland.com.

Dunn is in the third year of a four-year, $56 million contract. Danks, coming off left shoulder surgery, starts the second year of a five-year, $65 million contract.

Alex Rodriguez's 10-year, $275 million contract signed after the 2007 season ranks as the worst, according to Keri. The Los Angeles Dodgers have four players on the list.

Cubs closer Carlos Marmol (one year and $9.8 million left on a three-year, $20 million contract), and outfielder Alfonso Soriano (two years and $36 million remaining on a eight-year, $136 million contract) received honorable mention.
