Shirley A. Guehler

Mrs. Shirley A. Guehler, 82, of Morris, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, Feb. 12, 2013, at Evenglow Lodge in Pontiac, Ill.. with her loving son by her side.

Born Nov. 13, 1930, in LaSalle, Ill., Shirley was the daughter of Everett and Edith (Mason) Berryman. She received her elementary education in Oglesby, Ill., and graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School with the class of 1948.

Shirley married the love of her life Harold W. Guehler on May 19, 1951, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru, Ill.

With her husband, they moved to Morris to make their home in November 1953. She found employment for a short period with the Morris Paper Mill.

Together, with her husband, they were great fans of and traveled the country following open  -wheel auto racing.

She was a member of the New Community Christian Church in Morris.

Survivors include her loving son, Gary and his wife, Sherrie, of The Colony, Texas, and their four children, Shirley’s grandchildren, Michelle and her husband, Craig Langford, Dawn Guehler, Kathleen Guehler, and Jason and his wife, Kelsie Guehler; six great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, who died on July 30, 2002; one brother; and two sisters.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at U. C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at the funeral home. Rev. Kevin Yandell of the New Community Christian Church will officiate.

Interment will follow at Sample Cemetery.

Memorial gifts maybe directed to the New Community Christian Church.
