ROUNDUP: Six locals make state quarterfinals

CHAMPAIGN — Six local athletes claimed quarterfinal wins at the Individual Wrestling State Final Tournament at Assembly Hall in Champaign.

Kenny Baldridge of Morris won a 120-pound Class 2A quarterfinal bout by fall in 3:28 over Leslie Williams of Cahokia. In the 152-pound Class 3A quarters, Corbett Oughton of Minooka won a 4-3 decision over Mitch Cook of Sandburg.

Four of the local quarterfinal victories came in the Class 1A tournament. Coal City 106-pounder Cody Minnick pinned Brandon McCullough of Erie in 2:23. Corey Jurzak of Coal City won a 12-1 major decision over Chance Teel of Sherrard at 112 pounds. Coal City 120-pounder Casey Brown won by fall in 4:34 over Nelson Baker of Byron. Seneca's Sage Friese won a 9-3 decision over Jake Snow of Newman at 126 pounds.
