(MCT) — An 85-year-old Plainfield man died after the car he was driving struck a pole in Romeoville on Feb. 11, authorities said.
Henry R. Kutchins was turning a blue Ford Thunderbird from southbound Weber Road onto eastbound Grand Boulevard about 11:40 a.m. when the car went off the road and hit a traffic light pole at the southeast corner of the intersection, Romeoville Deputy Police Chief Steve Lucchesi said.
Kutchins was the only person in the car, and no pedestrians were injured, Lucchesi said.
Kutchins was taken by ambulance to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:15 p.m., authorities said.
The final cause and manner of death will be determined after police reports, autopsy reports and toxicology tests are completed, according to the Will County coroner's office.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash. They are looking into the possibility that a medical condition might have been a factor, Lucchesi said.
