Spaghetti meal will be served Saturday at VFW
Sunrise Center North Therapeutic Riding program will host a spaghetti dinner from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at the VFW in Morris.
Dinner will include: spaghetti with meat or vegetarian sauce, salad, bread and a drink.
Tickets are $10 for those 12 years old and over and $5 for children from 12 to 5 years old. Children under 5 years old eat free. Desserts will also be available for purchase.
Sunrise Center North opened with services for disabled riders in November 2006 and has been expanding their services since.
A few years ago, Sunrise began offering therapeutic riding to senior citizens to help with physical limitations as well as sharpen the mind. Last year, Sunrise began offering therapeutic riding for disabled veterans.
With significant improvement in balance, muscle tone, posture, self-esteem and self-confidence, horses therapy serves as the catalyst for veterans.
This past October eight of Sunrise Center’s special needs riders competed in the State Special Olympic games. This two-day event features competitive classes at all levels of special needs riding abilities.
