FAIRFAX, Mo. — Mrs. Julie Ann Cary, 54, passed away suddenly Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, in Fairfax, Mo.

Julie was a longtime resident of Joliet, Ill. She loved animals, gardening and crocheting.

She had a love of caring for others. She was currently working to crochet one hat per day to provide warm hats to many people next Christmas. In addition, she loved gardening and flowers. As an animal lover and caregiver, she offered a home to numerous dogs, cats and other animals throughout her life.

When she was able, Julie loved to travel and experience new places and people. Arriving in Fairfax, she said she had found a place she loved and felt loved in.

She was a regular attendee of the Fairfax United Methodist Church — a member of Tucker UMC near Doniphan, Mo., where her husband, Roger Cary, was pastor.

Julie truly was a soul mate and her passing leaves an enormous hole in our lives. Many thanks go out to all who have shown her love and compassion throughout her life.

Julie was the loving wife of Rev. Roger Cary for 14 years. Along with former husband Steven R. Pasternak, she was the beloved mother of Joseph (Angela) Pasternak of Oconomowoc, Wis., Jenyfer (Martin) McCormick of Plainfield, Ill., Amy (Kane) Howell of Oblong, Ill., and Michael Pasternak of Plainfield, Ill. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan L. Saragossa.

A memorial service with public viewing was held at her current church affiliation (Fairfax United Methodist Church) in Fairfax, Mo.

Additional services for friends and family in Illinois will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Morris First United Methodist Church, 118 W. Jackson St., Morris, Ill.. Rev.
