Snowy weather causes cancellations

Schools putting off after-school activities

12:13 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26: At this time, District 17 Illinois State Police troopers are handling numerous vehicles that have lost control due to snow on the roadways and slid into ditches. If travel is not necessary at this time, it is not advised.

CANCELLATIONS

Joliet Junior College

All JJC campuses and extension centers will close today, Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 4:30 p.m. due to winter weather. All evening classes and activities, including the Board of Trustees meetings, have been canceled.

As of now, college operations are expected to resume as scheduled on Wednesday. Check for updates at www.jjc.edu,www.emergencyclosingcenter.com, local media outlets, or the JJC Facebook page or Twitter feed.

Grundy Area Vocational Center

Afternoon Cosmetology (12:30 - 4:30pm) has been canceled for February 26, 2013, at the Grundy Area Vocational Center.

Saratoga School Dist. 60C

The afternoon 1st-2nd grade program and all after-school activities are cancelled for tonight in Saratoga School Dist. 60C.

Coal City Dist. 1

The 5th Grade Music Concert schedule for tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 26, has been cancelled by Coal City Unit Dist. 1 due to the weather.

Minooka Community High School

All after-school athletics, activities, and events for this evening have been cancelled in Minooka Community High School Dist. 111 due to the weather. This includes all detentions, practices, competitions, meetings, banquets, and any other scheduled event. Information regarding rescheduled events will be available on the school’s web site and in the announcements.

Seneca Grade School Dist. 170

Classes in Seneca Grade School Dist. 170 will dismiss at 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 26, due to worsening weather conditions.

Minooka Junior High

In an e-mail to parents, Minooka Junior High School has announced the cancellation of all after-school activties for Tuesday, Feb. 26.

Citing "inclement weather" as the cause, the e-mail notes that the cancellations include all sports, clubs, activities, homework club and detentions.

Troy Schools

"Due to deteriorating weather conditions," all Troy schools have cancelled after-school activities for Tuesday, Feb. 26. This includes the cancellation of the Reading Night at Heritage Trail Elementary School.

All activity buses are also being cancelled and will not provide service this afternoon.

All schools, however, will be dismissing their students at the normal dismissal times.
