Ex-Bears guard Bortz loses home in fire
Former Chicago Bears guard Mark Bortz lost his home in downstate Liberty to a fire on Wednesday morning.
The Quincy Herald-Whig reports Bortz, the starting left guard on the Super Bowl XX championship team, and his wife Liza were not harmed but the home and all of its contents were completely destroyed. Bortz, who has a second home, has lived in rural Adams County for some time. He played for the Bears from 1983 to 1994.
