Comments (...)The United Way of Grundy County recently helped the Coal City Food Pantry in a couple of ways.
As part of surpassing its goal last year, the United Way of Grundy County developed a mini grant program for not-for-profit organizations to apply for one-time funding.
The Coal City Food Pantry was one of the recipients of the mini grant and was awarded $750. This money was used for the delivery of over 3,200 pounds of food to stock the pantry.
In addition to the monetary support, members of the board of directors and staff of the United Way of Grundy County assisted the Coal City Food Pantry by unloading a delivery truck of food and stocking the shelves.
The Coal City Food Pantry is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization serving per month approximately 100 families in need who reside in the Coal City School District boundaries. The pantry is run solely on volunteers and dependant on donors.
“The generosity of the community is unbelievable,” stated Coal City Food Pantry Board President Judy Hittle. “We are so grateful to everyone who has donated money, conducted food drives, or volunteered their time to help the food pantry.”
The Coal City Food Pantry welcomes donations and volunteers to assist tin continuing to provide food for those in need.
“The United Way of Grundy County is glad it was able to award the Coal City Food Pantry with this special one-time grant,” stated Karen Nall, executive director, United Way of Grundy County.
“It is because of the generosity of so many individual, business, and corporate donors that our United Way surpassed its goal and is making an even greater impact in our community.”
The United Way of Grundy County is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) agency helping to improve lives through opportunities for giving, advocating, and volunteering.
United Way of Grundy County currently financially supports 27 not-for-profit Community Partner Agencies who provide vital programs and services for individuals and families in Grundy County.
The Coal City Food Pantry hours are 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays and 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays.
