Mrs. Virginia W. “Ginny“ Sowards, 83, of Morris, Ill., passed away early Tuesday morning, March 12, 2013, in Morris Hospital.

She was born in the home of her parents, James and Viola Vergne Stafford, on March 8, 1930, in Lewis County, Ky. She received her education in the schools of Lewis County, Ky., and graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1948.

She married Hershall G. “Jerry“ Sowards on Jan. 13, 1950, in Morris, Ill. She and her husband owned and operated several restaurants in Will County for many years. She then entered the employment of the Self Locking Corporation on Armstrong Street, and retired from the cafeteria at Morris Hospital in 2000.
