Bernetta Mae House

Mrs. Bernetta Mae House, 93, of Morris, Ill., and formerly of rural Lisbon, Ill., passed away with her loving family by her side Tuesday morning, March 12, 2013, at Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at West Lisbon Church with Pastor Steven Lombardo II and Pastor Steve Larson officiating. Interment will follow at West Lisbon Cemetery. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, from 9 a.m until the time of the service at the church.

Born June 12, 1919, in Morris, she was the daughter of Randall and Celia (Johnson) Thompson. She graduated from Newark High School with the Class of 1937.

Bernetta married William G. House on Aug. 23, 1941, at the West Lisbon Lutheran Church. All their married life they farmed in Big Grove Township, Kendall County.

She was employed at Scencenbaugh’s Department Store in Aurora, Ill., Lisbon Implement Company, and Spurgeon’s Department Store in Morris.

Surviving are one daughter, Janice (Don) Dorheim of Oshkosh, Wis.; two sons, Wesley (Marcia) House of Grand Lake, Colo., and Bryce (Jo) House of Bloomington, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, Bill (Diane) House, Heidi (Greg) Gardner, Michelle Gardner, Melissa (Nick) Hanson, Cory House, Sharon (Paul) Willison, Kristen (Michael) Nesterick, Teresa (Chris) Kliner, Jeff (Leah) Dorheim, Brian (Audrey) Dorheim, Natasha House, and Lucia House; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-, great-grandson; twin sisters, Carol (Leroy) Johnsrud of Neenah, Wis., and Corinne (Howard) Mathre of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her sister, Janice Thompson; her parents; her husband, William, on May 12, 1989; and one grandson, Craig Dorheim, in 1973.

Bernetta loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of West Lisbon Church. She enjoyed all forms of music. She performed solos, as well as singing in various  vocal groups.

She was blessed with the gift of service to others. She enjoyed spending time and playing games with her family and friends.

Her loving and caring spirit will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Memorials may be given to West Lisbon Church.
