Five-alarm blaze destroys warehouse
Firefighters forced to take defense stance against Coal City fire
A five-alarm fire engulfed a Coal City warehouse Wednesday night.
According to Nick Doerfler, spokesperson for the Coal City Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched just before midnight Wednesday to 235 E. Oak Street after a passerby called in the blaze.
A five-alarm was called with two specials, Doerfler said, and crews took a defensive approach.
Companies remained on the scene well into the afternoon Thursday.
No injuries were reported.
The building was home to three businesses.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
