Bernice Rogers

Mrs. Bernice Rogers, 88, of Morris, Ill., passed away Saturday morning, March 23, 2013, at Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St., Morris, with Pastor Patrick Lohse officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will also be Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

Born Aug. 2, 1924, in  Vandalia, Ill., she was the daughter of Grover and Mary (Braun)Thacker. She graduated from Vandalia High School.

Bernice married William E. Rogers on July 25, 1948, in Vandalia. They lived most of their married life in Vandalia and Morris.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda Winchester of Wilmington, Ill.; two grandchildren, Shannon (Robert) Cupp of Morris and Joe Rogers of Aurora, Ill.; one niece, Sandra Hunter of Edwardsville, Ill.; and several cousins.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, William E. Rogers, on Feb. 17, 2005; one son, William A. Rogers, on Sept. 18, 1993; and two sisters, Beulah Wasmuth and Lucille Ehrat.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris, Ladies Auxiliary to American Legion Post 294, Ladies Auxiliary to VFW John Martin Steele Post 6049 and Ladies of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 967.

She enjoyed dancing and visiting with her friends.
