Marjorie M. Underwood-Eddy

NEWARK, Ill. — Mrs. Marjorie Marie Underwood-Eddy, 78, of Newark, Ill., died Sunday evening, March 31, 2013, at OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa, Ill.

Marge was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Marseilles, Ill., to Shelby and Dorothy (Stern) Underwood. She married Harold Eddy on Dec. 31, 1955, at the Church of God in Marseilles. She was a homemaker, loving wife for 57 years, doting mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was a member of the Newark American Legion Auxiliary, the Newark Baptist Church, and a former member of the Salvation Army.

Surviving are her husband, Harold Eddy; two sons, Ray (Lynn) Eddy of Newark and Roger (Rebecca) Eddy of Hutsonville, Ill.; three daughters, Pamela Hook of Newark, Gail (Craig) Duy of Millbrook, Ill., and Tina (Mike) Pribyl of Newark; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; ten siblings, Lucille Brockman of Marseilles, Ronald (Pauline) Underwood of Cedar Bay, Wis., Rosalie (Rick) Underwood of Huntington Beach, Calif., Gerald (Jane) Underwood of Napa, Calif., Gloria (Art) Hayes of Daytona Beach, Fla., Robert (Joyce) Underwood of Seneca, Ill., Barry (Cynthia) Underwood of Seneca, Terry (Joanne) Underwood of Roseville, Calif., Sandra (Dennis) Terry of Seneca, and Wayne (Pat) Underwood of Marseilles; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John Underwood in infancy, James (and Joanne) Underwood, and Richard Underwood; a grandson, Eric Eddy; and a brother in-law, Robert Brockman.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 4, at the West Lisbon Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jim Horschler officiating. Interment will be at the Norway Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. In Newark. Additionally, an hour of visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Eddy, Jeffrey Eddy, Matthew Eddy, Daniel Hook, Michael Neitzer, Matthew Neitzer, Michael Pribyl Jr. and Jonathon Hook.
