Four other departments assisted the Coal City Fire Department at the scene of a garage fire Tuesday morning.

A small fire in a Coal City garage Tuesday morning caused an estimated $15,000 in damages, according to the Coal City Fire Department.

The fire, at 6060 E. Northern Drive in Coal City, was reported just before 10 a.m. Light smoke was showing upon arrival.

According to Fire Chief James Sheldon, it was a small fire in the attic area of a detached garage. One line responded and extinguished the fire quickly.

“It was pretty cut and dry,” Sheldon said.

The fire was contained to its spot of origin, with smoke and water damage to other areas. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. Morris, Braidwood, Gardner and Braceville fire departments assisted.
