YMCA filling void with basketball

Published: Wednesday, April 17, 2013 10:28 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

Are you tired of the weather? Saddened by sequestration?  Your remedy to the winter blues can be found on a Saturday morning at the YMCA Youth League basketball program at White Oak gym.

Watching over 300 young boys and girls learn the fundamentals of basketball is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

Wrapping up another successful basketball season, the YMCA and coaches do such a first-class job bringing programs and activities to the greater Morris community.

My daughter, now in her third year in the program, was part of an all girls team. Each week her confidence grew and her skills improved.

My first-grade son learned the basics of basketball and burned off some much-needed energy every week.

The YMCA is filling a big void in our community and I am thankful for their programs. Many thanks to Mr. Eye at the helm and all the many coaches and sponsors that make this basketball program such a blessing for our town. Here’s hoping we have our own YMCA facility soon!   Special Thanks to the local business community for its support:
